Bomb explosion has been reported in Ahoada East Local Government Area, Rivers State, according to reports from the oil rich state, located in the Niger Delta.
The incident which shut down activities at the Ahoada High Court took place where factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Evans Bipi, was billed to argue for vacation of an interim order preventing him from parading himself as Speaker.
No casualties have been reported over the bombing as at the time of filing this report.
In a statement following the incident, the Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government, Kassidy Ikegbidi, while condemning the bomb scare warned the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State against playing politics with the judiciary.
In the statement signed by Oyagiri, the council chairman,who described the dynamite scare as barbaric and uncivilized stated, “The Judiciary is not the property of the PDP but a property of all Nigerians. It is very wrong for any right thinking individual or group to attack the judiciary which is the last hope of a common man in the name of politics.”
In their reactions, the PDP and Bipi accused Governor Rotimi Amaechi of masterminding the tension to prevent the court from hearing the factional Speaker’s argument for vacating of the interim order placed on him by Justice Charles Wali of the Ahoada High Court.
