Tourists and residents of Calabar have trouped out in their hundreds to watch the Carnival Calabar reputed to be Africa’s biggest street party.
Offices and business premise in Calabar however remained under lock and key on Friday to allow full participation in the carnival. The carnival started about noon from the millennium park, through the carnival route-Calabar road -Mary Slessor avenue -Marian road - Ndidem Usang Iso road- MCC road- Murtala Mohammed Highway to the stadium(12 KM), for the final display.
This year’s event featured cultural and musical shows, freestyle parade, international heritage parade, children carnival ,beauty pageant and the Christmas village to compliment the Christmas activities
